My name is Helon and I am very blessed to be Cree’s mom. Cree is my only child and we are very close, really we are the best of friends.

Cree has had to grow up very fast living with vitiligo. She is ten years old and has had vitiligo since she was four years old. All she remembers is life with vitiligo. She had a very rough time in the beginning. For the longest time, she would not wear shorts or skirts. I would say that her faith in God has been the most comforting to her.

In the past two years, Cree has matured beyond measure – not only in her everyday life, but in living with vitiligo. She is very smart and very active, wherever she goes she is the life of the party.

Recently, Cree became a Junior Olympian, excelling in the top five percentile of kids across the nation. Traveling across different states has afforded her the opportunity to share with many kids and adults how vitiligo affects her. Being a track star and being required to wear shorts have given Cree’s confidence level a tremendous boost along with being in the AVRF 2006 calendar.

We look forward to meeting our friends each year at the AVRF conferences. Cree now knows that she is special and different. She acknowledges daily that she is a beautiful child of God and is blessed beyond comprehension and that “fear and lack” have no place in her heart.

With a strong support group, such as the AVRF, and belief in God, Cree is RUNNING FOR VICTORIES IN ALL AREAS OF HER LIFE!
